From the ferry terminal:
Turn left out of lot, go to third stop sign. The first is about five miles to ‘downtown’ Haines, a four-way stop at Main Street. Go straight through. The second is a long block to the Haines Highway. Go straight across. The third is a couple blocks to Mud Bay Road, next to the historic Fort Seward. Turn right. Go uphill to the stop sign. Turn left (Mud Bay Road turns left, too). Go up behind the fort about .2 miles to the sign that says “Chilkat State Park” with an arrow pointing right. Go right (Mud Bay Road goes right, too). Go down a fairly steep hill to the Chilkat River bank; as soon as you reach the bottom, River Road goes off to the right. Turn down River Road; River House is the third driveway, there’s a sign.
From Canada:
As you come into Haines, there’s a “Y” and a sign that says “Welcome to Haines.” Take the right fork. Go about 1/2 mile to the first real cross street, which is Third Avenue. Turn right, up the hill about 1/2 mile to the sign that says “Chilkat State Park” with an arrow pointing right. Go right on Mud Bay Road. Go down a fairly steep hill to the Chilkat River bank; as soon as you reach the bottom, River Road goes off to the right. Turn down River Road; River House is the third driveway, there’s a sign.
From the airport:
Turn right as you exit the airport. Follow “From Canada” instructions.
