River House has two units, each with one bedroom and a bath. The cottage itself is 2.5 stories, with the main living area on the middle, or second, floor.
You can rent just the upper unit or the lower unit, or the whole cottage.
The units have separate entrances.
The Upper Unit
The upper unit includes the main living area, full kitchen, and a queen bedroom. The bedroom is a cozy loft up a spiral staircase from the main living area. It is a charming spot, with a queen bed and a window ledge looking across the Chilkat River to the 6000′ Chilkat Mountains across the way.
The main living area is on the middle floor, and consists of a kitchen, dining area, living room and bath with tub and shower. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, place settings, and table linens for six. It has a propane range and a microwave oven; and a full refrigerator. Cooking equipment includes pots and pans, baking pans and sheets, mixing bowls, a toaster and a coffee maker. The kitchen is stocked with a few basic condiments and supplies like salt, pepper and sugar, and coffee filters. If you are arriving late, your host can stock supplies for breakfast on request. Grocery stores downtown supply the rest.
There’s a charcoal barbecue on the deck, and there are four deck chairs.
The living area includes a small couch, phone, wood stove, satellite TV, and a spotting scope to watch for animals on the river bar. The dining table expands to seat six. The view from the living room and dining area is gorgeous.
The Lower Unit
The ground floor has a large bedroom with a queen bed, a bath and a mini-kitchen. The entrance to this suite is from the outside, on the ground floor. The bath has a shower and a washer and dryer. The mini-kitchen has a small fridge, a microwave, small appliances and dishes. There is a picnic table right outside the unit. It is quiet and secluded; it has a more limited view of the water and the mountains.
